If you’ve had a metal filling for a number of years, it might have sustained some cracks and damage, warranting a new, stronger filling to replace it. The other benefit of replacing a silver filling with a white filling is that it is more cosmetically appealing and will bond to the existing tooth.

Unfortunately, teeth don’t have restorative qualities. As this is the case, you will need to have treatment if a tooth is displaying signs of decay or damage, as you could compromise the health of the tooth further without it. The white filling process can eliminate decay that’s present, and repair cracks or chips that would otherwise worsen without prompt treatment.
